How to look up a building's bylaws with NotebookLM

Updated

NotebookLM is Google's notebook: you load sources and the answers cite those sources. In July 2026 Google renamed it Gemini Notebook. If you arrive under the old name and the screen shows the new one, it is the same product.

It helps when the same bylaws question keeps coming back and you do not want to upload the PDF in every chat.

Step 1. Create one notebook per building

Open NotebookLM or Gemini Notebook, whichever name you see today.

Create a new notebook. Name it after the building, for example Edificio Rivera.

Do not mix two sets of bylaws in the same notebook. The citation can come from the wrong building.

Step 2. Upload only the current bylaws

Add the current bylaws PDF as a source. The control to add sources is in the notebook. The button name changes with the interface.

If a meeting changed a clause, add that resolution as a second source.

Do not upload the owner roll or the arrears list.

Step 3. Paste this question

Wait until the sources have finished loading.

Change the balcony question for today's question.

¿Se puede cerrar el balcón?

Cita el párrafo de las fuentes que cargué, con el nombre del archivo. Si no está, responde solo: "En las fuentes no está."

No completes con lo que sea usual en otros edificios. No inventes datos. Indica cualquier información que falte para poder usar la respuesta.

Step 4. Open the cited passage

Open the source at the paragraph the notebook marked.

If it paraphrased, copy the sentence from the PDF yourself.

If it says the point is not there, do not rephrase until a yes appears. Silence in the bylaws is an answer.

Step 5. Paste the reply into the building chat

The notebook does not write on WhatsApp. You copy the text yourself, into that building's thread.

Two sentences: what the bylaws say, and what the neighbour must do to ask for an exception.

When the question arrives on WhatsApp

The notebook is on your desk. The owner writes to the building's WhatsApp.

Eloria answers there, and by email, at any hour. It uses the bylaws, that building's documents and the instructions you leave.

It always replies to the resident. If the case needs an exception, it writes to you with the context. The resident still gets an answer.

It follows up complaints with residents and vendors. You see every conversation in a panel.

If you set office hours in the panel, non-urgent items wait until you are available. Urgent items reach you right away.

In the busiest buildings, 1 in 3 resident messages arrives at night, early in the morning or on weekends. Eloria answers at any hour: half get a reply in 12 seconds or less.

It works building by building. If you manage several, each one uses its own bylaws.

Message us on WhatsApp and try it with your building's bylaws.
